But I don&amp;#39;t really understand the &amp;quot;simple logic&amp;quot; to the rules - I don&amp;#39;t understand the virtue of rounding to the nearest hundred only those numbers that are not already themselves multiples of ten.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;However, I think my brother-in-law (who is an accountant) told me once that there is an accounting program that rounds monetary amounts to the nearest dollar unless they are already multiples of ten cents.  Essentially the same thing as Prof. Merzbach&amp;#39;s thesis.
